Does your company comply with trading disclosure regulations?
As a UK business owner I have the privilege of working with a lot of companies in a lot of sectors, and it amazes me the number of them that don’t comply with the The Companies (Trading Disclosures) Regulations 2008.
As of the 1st October 2008, companies are required to provide certain information about their business on all their communications, including business letters, order forms and on websites.
The information you are required to provide (readable to the naked eye) include:
- company name
- the part of the United Kingdom in which the company is registered
- the company’s registered number
- the address of the company’s registered office
You are not required to provide the names of directors, but if you chose to name one director (excluding within the text, or as a signatory) you must name all directors.
This might seem like an irrelevance, but you face a fine if you fail to comply.
You can read more the full The Companies (Trading Disclosures) Regulations 2008 at the Office of Public Sector Information, or get more information from your local Business Link office.
