Freelancing and Kitties don’t Mix
It is said that for every distraction it take a person between 40 minutes and two hours to get their brain fully back onto topic. When you bill by the hour, this makes distractions something to avoid. So you turn off the radio, take the phone off the hook, divert your mobile to voicemail and set your IM status to “Offline”. You’re ready, set, in the zone and off you go. No distractions. Perfect concentration…
“Mroaw”
“Mrrooaaww”
“Mmrrroooaaawww”
Finally you give in, get up and open the back door to let the cat in. You make sure there’s food in the bowl, fresh litter in the box and clean water aplenty. Then, satisfied that you’ve provided all the feline needs you return to your desk, settle down and try to get your focus back.
Eventually, after an hour or so, you’re cooking with gas once more, all is well, all is quiet and the project is going well.
“Mmmrrrrooooaaaawwww!”
