Changing Domain Name Provider
I’ve just finished porting all my domain names from UKReg to Heart Internet. I’ve been with UKReg for a few years now, and until recently have been pretty happy, the prices are good and the ease of domain management is excellent.
Recently though, there’s just been too much down time for my taste – and it’s always been when I’m in the middle of something important (ain’t that the way). Whether trying to configure existing domains or register new ones, I’ve had to keep going back and trying again later. Interestingly (or not) the problems seem to have started after they integrated with parent company Fasthosts‘ systems.
This all came to a head the other night when I was trying to register the perfect domain for an upcoming project – so I scouted around, asked someone in the know, and settled on Heart.
It’s too early to say much about reliability. Their management system isn’t as pretty but it seems to have the functionality you want, like nameserver config and easy transfer in and out. When I’ve given them a decent trial period I’ll let you know more.
