Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace

The United Kingdom has a new Prime Minister. The official handover of power, from Tony Blair to Gordon Brown, being completed with royal audiences at Buckingham Palace.

Upon his return to Downing Street, in his first speech as Prime Minister, the former Chancellor emphasised the need for change and distanced himself from the previous administration, promising “a new government with new priorities”.

Mr. Brown concluded his address, with reference to his old school motto, promising to “try my utmost” in leading Britain to be all that it can.

With the official visits and ceremonies over, the Prime Minister has now to form his cabinet, with all the associated political wrangling, and begin the task of rebuilding the nation’s faith in it’s government.
